OffGamers got its start in 2001 when they started selling Diablo 2 items (under the website offd2.com). They slowly expanded their customer base and operations and as MMO’s became more popular they decided to expand their horizons and officially incorporate as OffGamers in late 2004 - around the launch date of World of Warcraft. World of Warcraft launched OffGamers into the big league and when IGE/MySuperSales started to fall they stepped in as the market leader. Currently they provide numerous services for over 70 MMORPG titles.

Although they have branches all over the globe (with a strong presence in China and Hong Kong) their main base of operations and primary customer service center is located in Malaysia. Generally they have a positive history of ethical business practices and have slowly risen to the top of the market through continuous steady growth with an enormous emphasis on customer service. OffGamers is an experienced reliable company with over 200,000 customers and seven years of experience.

2009 Update: Offgamers has continued to grow, yet it hasn't forgot how to provide excellent customer service. OffGamers provides currency for more games than any other provider, it's sort of the Wall-Mart of virtual currency sites. Great selection, great customer service, and great prices.

Purchasing

First things first, Offgamers has the best website out of any virtual currency company hands down. Not only it is aesthetically pleasing but it is also professional, informative and highly functional. After going through so many hideous websites filled with broken text and four exclamation points (!!!!) announcing the “CHEAPEST GOLLD EVR!!!!” it was an enormous relief to see a proper website. What’s more they manage to service over 70 MMO’s and still maintain a clean easy to navigate website that provides crucial information for every game.

The first step of the purchasing process it to select your game and region. You then select your server and faction and are presented with a list of currency prices. At this point you can alternatively choose to purchase powerleveling, cdkeys or other services for your game (such as starter packs). If you wish to purchase currency you add the proper amount to your cart and select between three (for World of Warcraft) delivery options and a preferred time of delivery. You can either have your gold mailed to you, transferred in game face to face, or have them log into your account and directly deposit the gold.

Once you add the items to your cart (which you can view in over 25 real currencies) you are asked to either log in or create a new account. You are then presented with nine different payment options. Not only is this more than any other vendor, but they also allow you to switch the default currency right at the checkout screen. Once you enter in your payment information you receive a confirmation e-mail with further instructions on how to receive your currency.

OffGamers has the best virtual currency purchasing experience out there.

Update 2009: What is there to say? It's continued to grow in size and continued to provide an excellent purchasing experience. This is no easy feat.

Customer Service

OffGamers has excellent customer service. Rare is it to find such a large currency company with such an excellent customer service department. The average wait time for a live chat agent is under a minute and they offer toll free phone support with a U.S number, UK number, and an international number. Even upper management is quick to respond to more elaborate requests by e-mail.

Not only that, but all of the customer service agents speak excellent English. It should be noted that it is near impossible to find a negative review anywhere online about their customer service. In fact, there are almost no negative reviews about OffGamers online in general. The few seemingly negative reviews we found, they had already responded to and resolved the situation. These are signs of a well organized company with a strong emphasis on customer service.

OffGamers has an extensive FAQ and Customer Service Solutions database with a wealth of information about all of your common questions at your fingertips on their website. If this huge database doesn’t help you then you can be assured that a live online chat agent or telephone call will quickly resolve your problem.

The only complaint we had about the customer service department is that they were unwilling to provide us with any sort of corporate address. However, they met halfway and told us the city of their headquarters (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).

Update 2009: We've asked almost every vendor to provide a customer support number. Offgamers remains one of the few that actually provide one (and staff it with knowledge people). This continues to distinguish it from other providers.

Delivery

The average delivery time for the smallest purchase of World of Warcraft gold they offer (1,000) was approximately two hours. When purchasing any currency OffGamers gives you an estimated ETA (usually between 30 minutes to three hours for major games that have a mail system delivery) and guarantees to deliver your currency within 24 to 48 hours or you are offered an instant refund.

After you place an order you immediately receive a confirmation e-mail with further instructions to complete your order. If you are a new customer you must go through a short verification process which includes answering a few simple questions (such as your birth date, so don’t lie on the form or at least remember your “alleged” online age) over the phone. After this your order status is updated and you will receive further information on how to receive your order depending on what delivery option you choose.

For major games they offer three delivery options. Face-to-Face where you meet in a common location at a set time and they hand the currency directly to you. There is also Mail option where the currency is mailed to your in-game inbox. The last option is a direct deposit option where you give them the account username and password and they manually log in for you and trade the currency into your account, but not before running naked shouting crazy remarks all throughout Stormwind (Editor’s Note: We found no evidence of this alleged practice, perhaps the reviewer had one too many beers one night and was looking for a scapegoat for his own practices).

They keep you notified every step of the way so you are never in doubt that someone “forgot about you” (like some other vendors). In our tests we found they have one of the quickest and most reliable delivery times in the industry.

Update 2009: Our recent tests indicate that OffGamers has improved it's (already good) delivery times. As such we have bumped their rating up half a star.

Conclusion

This is what a virtual currency vendor should be like. Finally after reviewing so many mediocre or downright pathetic virtual currency sites (some who were so pathetic they didn’t even deserve a review) we finally found a decent site.

It’s interesting that the industry has come to the point where simply finding a site that is ethical, honest, has quality customer support agents who listen to their customers, and meets its delivery times (and doesn’t claim outrageous ETA) is the best site we have reviewed.

Every site should do these things. However, in this industry they don’t and OffGamers comes through in every area. Not only that, but it manages to do all this and still scale with over 70 games offering more services than any other vendor out there. This smooth, well run, professional business is an anomaly in this market. Hands down if the price is right, this is who you should be purchasing all of your virtual currency from.
