MOGS was started in summer of 2004 by Hayden Gill. Gill has been involved with the MMO virtual currency market since 2000 when the market was in its infancy. The idea behind MOGS was to provide a U.S based competitor to MySuperSales and IGE (which would later join forces).

MOGS specializes in providing completely U.S based customer service while maintaining cheap prices due to robust inventory management. As a result, they maintain a limited stock of instant purchases, yet still deliver the vast majority of orders in less than twelve hours. They are a smaller company than some of the others, and don’t offer true “instant delivery” for most of their orders, but they generally offer competitive prices and excellent customer service.

2010 Update: Mogs now has a new website and a larger operations base allowing them to offer more instant deliveries nearly 24/7. They offer big box reliability, but somehow have managed to still maintain a mom and pop commitment to service.

Update: MOGS recently updated their website dropping the rather ugly open-source osCommerce package they were previously using. This is a big leap up for them and greatly improves their accessibility and the purchasing experience.


If you are a new customer you must provide your contact and payment information (including phone number). They only offer payments through paypal (although paypal processing credit cards if you don’t have an account). All new customers go through a fraud check that involves MOGS verifying your contact information and calling the phone number you provide.


Existing customers bypass the fraud check and receive discounts based on a point system relative to how much they purchase. They have two categories of purchases. One is instant and the other is pre-order. They usually keep a limited stock of currency (although they have an excellent inventory management and supplier system in place) so most of their orders are pre-orders. These pre-orders normally take 2 to 48 hours to fulfill, but the vast majorities are completed in under 12 hours. Instant Orders are handled face to face in game; while Pre-Orders are mailed to your characters mailbox.


2010 Update: The new website for Mogs has been a huge leap for them. It has greatly improved thier purchasing experience.

MOGS has some of the best (if not the best) customer service in the industry. There response time is generally within a few minutes and all of their customer service agents are located in the United States and speak perfect English. The main customer service office is located in Ohio, but a few employees work out of state from home.


Everyone was open, helpful, and professional. Just to make sure they were from Ohio I asked them about some of the local sights and venues and even threw in some American pop culture jokes all of which they responded to perfectly (some currency companies pretend they are from the United States). Furthermore if you click the about us page you get to see pictures of the guys (where are the women mogs!) you are dealing with. They all look friendly, if a bit pale and nerdy; but what do you expect from peoples careers revolve around virtual currency in MMO's! :)


Furthermore, unlike many virtual currency companies which often seem rather secretive, the people I talked to were very open about business operations and where their office was located which made me feel at ease. It should be noted that MOGS has the highest rankings on BizRate of any participating virtual currency operation ranking either Good or Outstanding in every category. This is quite an accomplishment for the customer service department.


2010 Update: Mogs continues to dominate the customer service area (they also have the top rating on Bizrates right now) We only wish they would add a customer service phone number.

MOGS does not have the fastest delivery available; however, they do not claim to either. They make it very clear what they have in stock and what is an “instant” purchase and what is a Pre-Order. Instant Purchases are delivered right after a new customer is verified (passes the fraud check). Existing customers bypass this check and nearly instantly receive the gold face to face in-game.


Pre-Orders: They claim that all Pre-Orders arrive within 2 to 48 hours. However, they claim the vast majority of orders are delivered in under 12 hours. If you need a delivery instantly and they don't have an "instant purchase" available you are better off going somewhere else.


Although they don't not have the fastest delivery time, they are very reliable when they give you a time and almost always meet that timeframe. Furthermore, unlike other companies that make promises of “instant” delivery that is nowhere near instant MOGS instant deliveries really are instant. Their pre-order system may not be the fastest, but it is highly reliable within the time frame they give you.


With our test “pre-order” delivery we ordered using a credit card through PayPal and a cell phone. We received a phone call confirming our order within two minutes from a nice easy to talk to customer service agent. The agent had us confirm our shipping address and date of birth and notified us we would receive an e-mail confirmation within the next twelve hours confirming that the currency had been delivered. We received the confirmation e-mail and 300 gold in our mailbox within seven hours of placing the order.


Note: Mogs has recently launched an "express delivery" service where they log in to your account and manually transfer your virtual currency offer. We tested out this new service a few times and have constantly seen our orders delivered in under 20 minutes. This is currently the quickest delivery option we've seen!


2010 Update: Pre-orders are increasingly a thing of the past. As Mogs infrastructure has grown the number of instant deliveries has vastly increased. As such we have improved their delivery rating to 4.5/5 stars for 2010.

Editor'sMOGS is a smaller U.S based company with excellent customer service and very reliable service. They are able to maintain competitive prices while offering these superior services through their robust supplier network and pre-order system. As such, you often have to wait a bit longer to receive your gold, but you know that it will be there within the time frame they advertise.


They are efficient, open, and reliable; traits that many virtual currency companies lack. They are the only virtual currency seller who posts full pictures of themselves on their website. They use to be a bit slower than their competitors due to their small size, but as more and more customers have flocked to their site in search of great U.S based customer service the business has really grown. As a result they can compete just as well as the big box players, while still offering the best customer service in the industry.


2010 Update: With a larger operations base Mogs has drastically improved the number of instant deliveries they offer why still maintaing the personaizled mom and pop feel they are famous for. We have also been very impressed with their charity work especially with the Haiti crisis. Mogs not only has great customer service, they are a great company.
