Gamepal was started in 2004 by Eric Smith. He got his start in 2001 operating Smity LLC and would later help manage supply side operations of IGE/Mysupersales. Adrian Jeff Robey would later join as co-owner and the company experienced rapid growth up until late 2006 when it became overwhelmed by its own growth.

At this point the company had over 350 employees and a full service center in the Philippines. However, the company imploded and young Eric Smith fled his duties and the country. Employees stopped getting paid and the company experienced negative cash flow despite its strong growth record. They had to sell off a large chunk of their assets and “Atlas Technology Group” (IGE) was all too happy to buy.

Purchasing Star_goldStar_50goldStar_greyStar_greyStar_grey

Gamepal’s website is easy to use and uses a constant pricing system per game (regardless of faction/server). What this really means is that every server is over-priced instead of just one!

There is an extensive FAQ due to the numerous specialty services gamepal offers. For this review however we will be focusing exclusively to their virtual currency sales. When checking our your currency purchase you enter in your payment information and whether you wish to have your currency delivered face to face or through the mail system. Gamepal requests a valid phone number where they will call to confirm your order and as a measure to prevent fraud.

Once you check out you enter your payment information through paypal (Visa/MasterCard/or Paypal Account). However, here is where it gets interesting as the payment goes to: “Atlas Technology Group” the owner of the IGE/MySuperSales empire. When I asked customer service about this, I was told that they were not “privy of this information” and my chat session was ended after I asked a few more questions.

I later asked another customer service representative who said that “Atlas Technology Group” was a department at gamepal and that they were not affiliated with IGE. When I asked why IGE’s domain name and copyright symbol were under “Atlas Technology Group” I was disconnected from customer service.

Customer Service Star_goldStar_goldStar_goldStar_greyStar_grey

The customer service response time is reasonably quick and the customer service representatives claimed they were based in the United States. However when I asked for an address of phone number to contact them at the customer service representative refused to provide such information. When asked why the customer service agent provided the following (rather humorous response): Franz S: There is a risk that impatient customers would get here and make violent acts. Franz S: I'm sorry but I am not allowed to disclose such information to customers for security purposes.

It makes you worry a bit about doing business with a company that would anger “impatient” customers so much over virtual items that they would drive to the service center and commit “violent acts”. With some more research although the customer service agents say they are located in Oklahoma it seems they are actually located in the Philippians.

Although the customer service representatives English was clearly understandable it was obviously their second language. This didn’t seem to cause any communication problems though. The customer service agents were quick to answer our questions and were able to give us stock updates for any server.

Our main concerns were the numerous complaints related to their powerleveling department where they completely cut off customers after their accounts were banned. Although these complaints are not related to the currency department both departments share the same customer service agent and we questioned a company that would provide such poor service in one area of their business even if those effects do not show up in the other. Even more concerning was the fact that customer service agents lied to us and pretended to have no affiliation with IGE/”Atlas Technology Group”

Delivery Star_goldStar_goldStar_goldStar_greyStar_grey

Gamepal promises delivery in person or to your mailbox within an hour of ordering. However, “technically” this is only possible for servers that they are in stock in. If, they are not in stock, then it will take longer. They recommend that you check with their live chat to see if they are in stock.

Their stock, customer service, and delivery system are just IGE (Atlas Technology Group) in disguise. Our delivery process was rather amusing when we caught the same chat representative on IGE’s live chat and Gamepal’s live chat telling us that neither site was related. You can read about it on my blog post at: I'm so tired of being lied to

Conclusion Star_goldStar_goldStar_greyStar_greyStar_grey

It was tough to give an accurate final rating for Gamepal. In the currency department they deliver the currency quickly and their customer service department is quick to assist you if you have any questions. However, the customer service agents lied to us, and the site is partly run by the Atlas Technology Group empire (IGE/Mysupersales). Furthermore, the internet is filled with reports of customers being burned time and time again over Gamepal’s “specialty” account leveling services. This coupled with a complete collapse of service in 2006 and the owners rather dubious ethical history make us question doing business with Gamepal.

We advise if you're planning on purchasing currency from Gamepal, you might as well just go to MySuperSales or IGE. They will be cheaper and at least they don’t pretend to be something else.
